Now, let’s take a look back. The city of Leawood wasn’t always like this after all. Just like everything else in the world, the city had its humble and quiet beginnings. And it all began when the Louisiana Purchase opened itself for settlement; people began to filter in upon the discovery of the Missouri River. Though this story wasn’t all good, as the beginnings of the town were destroyed after the American Civil War, with only a bundle of people left staying in town in 1865.
This all changed when Oscar G. Lee supervised the kickstart of what is known to be Leawood today. Led by the Kroh brothers in 1948, Leawood soon became a bustling city of 2,000, with more and more people coming in for settlement. Whatever they did before became a success, because as of 2014, Leawood is now a city with 32,800 happy residents.
