About Raytown, MO

Raytown is town near a Kansas City, Missouri. The population is 2,816.

Raytown was developed by pioneers marching westward beginning in the first quarter of the 19th century. The main construction of Raytown took place until the first quarter of the 20th century. The town's steady growth was ensured by its location on the three main trails of the time. In 1826, Raytown was integrated into the state of Missouri under an agreement signed in 1826 at $800. Raytown after the formation of Jackson County was not sold by accidental mistake and for 20 years carried the name "Lost Township". The "Lost Township" was eventually sold only in 1843, thanks to the active stance of its residents.

Raytown, Missouri was named after William Ray. He was the owner of the first blacksmith shop and shop in the town. The settlement around the blacksmith shop was known first as "Ray's Town" and then as "Raytown" in 1854. In 1860, a road was built through Raytown, which connected with the Santa Fe trail at the point where Ray's smithy was located. The road was named Raytown Road.

The nature around the town still attracts attention today, just as the first settlers discovered the high wooded ridges, so today tourists and travelers are attracted to the Blue Ridge and the nearby rivers, the Little Blue Rivers and Big Blue. The Rice-Tremonti House, listed on the Missouri Register of Historic Buildings, was the first inn in town. It was built in 1844 on the Santa Fe Trail and still stands as a museum. Cave Spring Park is not far from the town. There are scenic views, beautiful caves, a Zoo, a quarry, and a nature center. Cave Spring historically originated on the Santa Fe Trail and showcases the diverse natural and cultural history of Kansas City County.
