This is because of its state as one of the top schools in the country, having a 98% graduation rate. This posed a challenge for many private schools in the city because many parents opted for the cheap public school that had already attained its legacy. However, the role played by the private schools in Leawood couldn’t be ignored because of their advanced courses and life mentoring programs. Such outstanding institutions made Leawood famous for its highest population of highly learned people; with a high percentage of them being, graduates, and other professional degree academies all living in these 14.7 sq miles, Leawood land.
As of 2020, the population in Leawood stood at about 34,000 people with a low unemployment rate of not more than 1.6%. This is quite impressive, signifying the City’s founders, great work in nurturing job-oriented minds right from elementary, and High school levels. The peaceful environment trails back to Leawood foundation; when the town started as a housing development built by the Kroh Brothers when Oscar G. Lee, Daniel Boore, American natives, and French traders visited the land. The growth of the housing developments into a simple community raised the need for the police force in Leawood, in the 18TH Century. However, there being no revenue collection measures, it was quite hard to pay for any police patrols that would enforce the law in the then Leawood community. Despite the challenges, the first police department in Leawood was formed with the assistance of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office in 1949. The greatest challenge of all times was that their first officers were unpaid volunteers who delighted in serving their community. This alone must have been a turnaround of social connections in the community; because many unemployed people engaged themselves in serving their community.
This went on until 1971 when Leawood managed to pay their first officers in what was a great move by the city’s management. Later, the city was able to establish a strong bond with Johnson County Police Academy, which today is the city's leading training center for the Leawood Police Department. So, all officers joining Leawood Police department, pass through Johnson County Police Academy.
One thing that was notably advantageous to communities welcoming churches in the 18th and 19th centuries is that quality schooling and other social amenities came along with the growth of churches. The community in Leawood noticed this and it has always managed to embrace more developments in their land, resulting in expansive structural growth in addition to stable and sophisticated lifestyles in the town.
