Job Title: Bookkeeper/Office Associate

Location: Sedalia, MO

Job Type: Full Time 

Compensation: $18-$25 per hour

Department: Finance/Administration

Reports to: Office Manager

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Office Associate to join our team. This role is essential in managing our day-to-day accounting and finance requirements as well as providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office. Confidentiality, excellent organizational skills, and accuracy are important qualifications for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts; posting transactions; ensure legal requirements compliance.
  • Develop systems to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.
  • Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
  • Balance subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
  • Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
  • Balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
  • Maintain historical records by filing documents.
  • Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Manage office supplies stock and place orders.
  • Prepare regular reports on expenses and office budgets.
  • Organize a filing system for important and confidential company documents.
  • Answer queries by employees and clients.
  • Update office policies as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, office manager, or administrative assistant.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with finance regulations.
  • Good math skills and the ability to spot numerical errors.
  • Hands-on experience with MS Office and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
  • Solid data entry skills with an ability to identify numerical errors.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
